No Kid Too Feral

Feral. Dirt smeared smiles.

Sand between every toe, every crevice,

Mucus crusted rings, a liquid trickling down in suspense.

Tangles, wildly whipping through the wind.

It’s my way, not yours.

I'm not afraid to fight with my heart

fights to the death WILL happen.

‘Don’t dirty my dress, sit straight, keep my shoes on, control that tongue.’

That’s what they say.

Have you not seen the universe in my eyes, old one?! The reflections of society are not what 'I' seek.

My bones come from the stars. They won't bend and sink into this earth so willingly at the very chains you are so. afraid. of.

Toes dig deeper beneath the sand, forearm smearing the snot from my lip.

Creep out of bed. Life is too short for sleep.

Stargazing is MAGIC.

Do not just eat food but FEEL it. All. over. my body. I'm sorry it's just too good not to.

I squint closely at the line of ants trailing down into a black abyss ( where DO they go??) and ask again and again ( and again if I’m really curious) about all the other wonders of this world.

and all I ask in return? Is for you to join me.

Kids Aren’t Perfect So Don’t Photograph Them That Way

Dread the idea of getting the kids dressed, stay clean and then behave for a photoshoot. Then dont. Honestly. Its self sabotage. If I can feel parents anxious about their kids behaviour. Then the kids feel it too. Now Most certainly they won’t want to participate because the tone has already been set at super uncomfortable and anxious.

A documentary family shoot is super casual day of just doing what your family does best. There are no expectations no posing. No cheesy smiles. That way your kids get to keep having fun, are not interrupted or require to keep attention with a smile on their face.

Authentic and real does not come from perfection either. A documentary family shoot will capture real expressions and moments that actually happened. Not setting up a perceived happiness. Kids are kids. They feel what they feel and thats ok. I work with that, I don’t judge behaviour that is naturally expected to happen in every family. Parents are usually so ashamed of their kids melt downs because it was something they were possibly shamed for as a child themselves. In reality, what they are experiencing. Every child does, because its human.
