The Cuinet-Wellings family. A cute little family living admit the hot humid Malaysian weather. Wanted a break from the humidity. What beautiful thing, to have such wonderful memories photographed along Sydney's Northern Beaches.

Moments that Matter in October | Family Photography Sydney
Oh this moment has my heart. From the moment baby Dante had an awareness, the very sight of my dear jackson and Bella babes had him absolutely terrified. And good reason too, Jackson being a Great Dane x Boxer mix, he is enormous! They had to stay at one end of the room and him at the other.
Slowly but surely it went from terrified screams to just spine stiffening as they walked past. Over the months he became used to the sight of them and would just kick his leg at them to shoo away if they got too close. Soon enough they could approach, if they became too close for a sniff Dante would lean back with a 'too higher than though please do not get too close' look on his face.
The time is finally here where he has grown so rapidly and becoming ever so brave at discovering the world around him that now the dogs offer sense of curiosity and thrill to this ever growing void of adventure to my new developing toddler. The dogs, so eager and patient to be loved by this new little human. They wait at the door for him, wanting to sniff, busting to be petted and loved. The look on our golden retriever screams.. 'love me! love me you little human.' So desperate for the affection they clearly have a thirst for. Jackson and Bella have dearly been playmates and guardian to Abby and it makes my heart absolutely sing at the prospect of them accepting their new little adoptive pup. I just cannot wait for them to be able to start enjoying him a little more.

Moments that Matter | Lifestyle Circle
This post is part of a new blog circle I'm in with some amazing artists called "Moments that Matter". At the bottom of this post, please click on the link to see what also matters to Bec Stewart this month.
For me the moments that matter right now are the moments happening at home. My first born, Abby has survived her first term at Kindy. I am missing having her around so I am really appreciating having her home for the holidays. I get to see her play in the backyard with her friends and family and she is enjoying spending time with her baby brother.

Let Kids be Kids | Sydney Family Photography
Let Kids be Kids. While editing these photos from after an afternoon playing out in the backyard. Abby looked over my shoulder. She scrunched up her nose and said she looks like a boy.
I replied ' What makes you think that?'
She observed ' I have bruises on my legs, no clothes on and I'm all dirty like a boy.'
I looked at her and thought hard.. ' You know who I think you look like?'
'who?' giving me a puzzled look.
I smiled and replied ' Abby.'
Don't get me wrong, Abby loves her horses, dress ups and adornments of pink terrible things. But she also loves to play outside, wrestle with the dogs or her mates. Isn't afraid to get dirty and is very comfortable with her body.
These stereotypical assumptions that girls like pretty things and boys like to be grubby not only start to define how children identify themselves. They are offensive to both genders.
A Day With The Griffiths | Family Photography Sydney
I honestly enjoyed every second of this shoot. The Griffiths not only lived in such a picturesque area of Sydney they were just genuinely fun people. The typical easy going, Australian sarcasm that filled this session with laughter just made my day. The purpose of my shoot, was Jane. Jane wanted an extended family shoot as her son Jacob and his girlfriend Lindsay were off to her homeland Canada. A new chapter in their life adventure. Jane especially wanted to capture the family's connection with grandson Sebastion. Not hard to see this little heartbreaker stole the show. It was a pleasure getting to know such a fun family.

Darren | Hills District Documentary Photography
A very exciting time Darren right now, he is saying farewell to his Primary School and embarking in a new life chapter - High School. School Formals are such fun. I loved seeing the excited yet nervous anticipation on his face as he waited for his ride to turn up. A pretty sweet ride at that. I'll admit, I was slightly jealous. With a nice suit and shoes on, I hope Darren celebrated the end of his primary school days with a bang ( or engine roar) all the while looking quite suave too!

Impressionable Childhood | Family Photography Hills District
Sometimes when you sit back and actually watch what children are enacting out in play, you realise how much of it comes from what the environment they are immersed in. I was oblivious to the role play going on in the background of my little bubble. While I was working, completely consumed by what I was doing and it wasn't until I glanced over my shoulder that I realised what kind of play my child was absorbed in. I am so glad I did, because this is will be a precious memory I will hold dear forever. Whisking up my camera, I witnessed Abby acting out being a pregnant mummy out shopping with a child in tow. She was pretending to be me. Listening to her pick out her shopping list, she chose Mangoes, strawberries, broccoli, spinach and chips haha. Things that are regular items on our list.
The scene stung my eyes, with emotional buttery pregnancy hormonal goodness as I thought I never, ever want to forget this. It also made me think about her mood swings most likely a reflection of my own hormonal moodiness and low tolerance during this pregnancy. My conclusion? Hold them close. Hold them dear, they are our own reflections until one day they want to grow up and be their own.

Louise + Jason | Hills District Family Photography
Hills District Family Photography Introducing the Nguyen Family!
Louise and Jason are proud parents of these two adorable little girls, Mia and Daisy.
What better way to show off your children than with a family photography session? Mia was just adorable, completely smitten with me and wanted to hold my hand most of the time. This is why I love my work. I get to meet the most loveliest families and their delightful children.
Mia wanted to share her dancing and piano skills and little Daisy was just happy being in her own little universe. I also snuck in a moment to get some romantic shots of Mum and dad as a couple, which I think is really important. I love to remind my clients to take a breather and be with each other.
A moment to capture their connection as a reminder of why they are here today. Life is so fast paced and I like to remind them of this.
At Home Family Documentary Photography in the Hill's District
Over September, Janine Harris from White Salt Photography set a challenge for many of us Lifestyle/documentary photographers to participate in a personal project - a photo a day for all of September. I had never participated in one before but had always wanted to. A busy life and other priorities I thought it would be too difficult and boring. My life really is not that interesting. However I have learned that is part of the challenge, to pick up the camera during those mundane moments, that actually really aren't that mundane. They tell a story. They give insight to who we are as people and a family. Not only that it made me start thinking about experimenting with light and different perspectives while taking advantage of a moment. It truly has ben a learning curve and I would encourage any photographer interested in personal growth and development to try this challenge regularly. I am Lifestyle/Documentary Photographer and if you are interested in the idea of at home family documentary in the Hill's District, Sydney please contact me - adin@justinecurran.com.au

Culburra Beach Family Photography Sydney
We have a holiday home down the South Coast. Its such a peaceful place. A short walk down the road and we have Culburra Beach at our door step. Not the best for swimming all year round but we still enjoy a walk along the beach. I love visiting here. Its so grounding. A reminder to slow down and appreciate the small things. to sit on the sand with a blanket and watch the waves. smell the salt air and just be present.
